Practice 1: 17th (51.6259)
Practice 2: 13th (51.4280
Qualifying: 10th (51.3754)
Race 10: 5th (Fastest Lap: 51.9493)
“I’m really stoked for the guys. I mean, it’s hard to say how much effort goes in when you’re not winning because you’re throwing setups at it. The mechanics are working their backsides off and the engineer is tearing his hair out to find car speed, so today is all about them. Getting that top five is a huge result for them and they definitely deserve it for the work they’re putting in.
“I think through qualifying and the race we showed good potential and hopefully now we can carry that forward to tomorrow. I think we’re really happy with the progress we’ve made since Perth and we’ll try and back it up tomorrow.
“There’s a lot of work that’s gone in behind the scenes from everyone, from Charlie getting East Coast Car Rentals on the car this weekend and all the crew and engineers too.
“In the race I’d like to have a little bit more speed at a couple parts of the track and I think if we can do that, then we should be able to get up close to the back of the podium. I think Waters struggled towards the back end of the race. I felt quite strong at the end, but they were too far up the road.”
Mark Winterbottom, #18 DEWALT Racing Team 18 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Practice 1: 8th (51.4402)
Practice 2: 5th (51.2585)
Qualifying: 14th (51.2790)
Race 10: 12th (Fastest Lap: 52.0792)
“It was an up and down day really. We were good in practice and then not good in qualifying and, not too bad in the race.
“We had a drama with our pit stop, so probably should have ended up around sixth. We were in front of Slade and had better pace and after our stop we came back out in the pack.
“We passed a couple of cars, but, a second at this track is like 10 seconds at others, you lose a lot of time.
“We’ll regroup, go again tomorrow and try and qualify better and have a cleaner race.”
