Racing’s Mark Winterbottom and Seiko 5 Sports Racing’s Scott Pye were in the hunt during practice for the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight, setting times in the top five in both sessions.

The first day of on-track action for the 2022 Repco Supercars Championship saw two 40-minute practice session in mixed weather conditions.

The majority of Practice 1 was wet before teams stuck on a set of slick tyres towards the end of the session, while the track was also damp for Practice 2.

Pye was fifth fastest in Practice 1 and fourth in Practice 2 in a strong first day back in the car.

Winterbottom was second fastest in Practice 1, while his second practice session was hampered by traffic and red flags which saw him 19th on the scoresheets.

Saturday’s action will see Qualifying at 2:45pm AEDT, followed by a Top 10 Shootout to set the grid for Race 1 of the season which will run over 77 laps from 7:10pm.
