Team 18’s Anton De Pasquale has made a strong start to his 2026 Supercars Finals campaign, claiming provisional pole position for Race 31 at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

De Pasquale topped Friday afternoon’s qualifying session with a 1:09.0770 aboard the No. 18 Cub Cadet Racing Chevrolet Camaro, edging Broc Feeney by 0.0690 seconds to secure the final run in Saturday’s Top Ten Shootout.

The result capped a strong turnaround after De Pasquale finished 12th and 13th in the two practice sessions. A shortcut breach on his final flyer in Practice 2 left his qualifying potential untapped, before he delivered the fastest lap of the afternoon late in qualifying.

Snowy River Racing’s David Reynolds will line up 14th for Saturday’s opening 250km race after recording a 1:09.5447 in the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro, missing the Shootout by just 0.1683 seconds.

Reynolds featured inside the top ten throughout practice, placing fourth in the opening session with a 1:16.5673 before improving to a 1:09.8905 to finish tenth in Practice 2.

De Pasquale will return to the track for the Top Ten Shootout at 12:35pm AEST on Saturday, before he and Reynolds take on Race 31 at 3:15pm AEST. All the action can be viewed live on Channel 7, Fox Sports and Kayo.

RESULTS & QUOTES

Anton De Pasquale, driver – No. 18 Cub Cadet Racing Chevrolet Camaro

Practice 1: P12 (1:17.0582)
Practice 2: P13 (1:10.0975)
Qualifying – Race 31: P1 (1:09.0770)

“Friday wrapped up here on a rainy Gold Coast, although we managed to get a couple of dry sessions in, including qualifying. Having qualifying on a Friday was really exciting, and provisional pole is awesome. It’s brought a bit of joy after the couple of weeks we’ve had.

“The car was really good in the dry. Our first lap tomorrow will be in the Top Ten Shootout, we’ll be last out and it’s probably going to be wet, so we’ll see how we go.”

David Reynolds, driver – No. 48 Snowy River Racing Chevrolet Camaro

Practice 1: P4 (1:16.5673)
Practice 2: P10 (1:09.8905)
Qualifying – Race 31: P14 (1:09.5447)

“Practice started really well in the full wet. My car was really good, but as it started drying out, it wasn’t quite as strong. We ended up fourth in Practice 1 and tenth in Practice 2. The car was okay in the dry, but we were still looking for a few bits and pieces.

“We went from the soft tyre in practice straight onto the super soft for qualifying and had a bit of a mechanical drama on the first run. Luckily, it was a long session, so we had the chance to recover.

“I was really happy with the lap I did on my second run, but we needed a little bit more here and there. We tried making a change for the final run, but it probably made the car a bit worse. I was around four-tenths slower, which is a lot.

“We’ll work through it and go from there. Fourteenth isn’t the best starting spot, but we’ll see what we can do from there tomorrow.”
