The fourth and final race of the Melbourne SuperSprint was abandoned this morning at Albert Park, with treacherous conditions descending on the final day of the Australian Grand Prix.

Anton De Pasquale was set to start the DEWALT Racing Camaro from 9th, with TRADIE Energy Racing’s David Reynolds sharing the fifth row in tenth.

The field took the start under safety car and circulated for two laps, before the race was red flagged and not resumed.

The race was not classified, with no points awarded.

Team 18 faces a short two-day turnaround before their cars and equipment are picked up and sea freighted to New Zealand for the third round of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship at Taupo Motorsport Park on 11-13 April.

QUOTES

Anton De Pasquale – #18 DEWALT Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

“Shame to end with a non race. We just copped a heap of rain at the wrong time for us.

“Overall, another decent weekend some sevenths and eighths.

“It was solid, we’re just working on our weaknesses now and we’re pretty clear on what they are and we’ll focus forward on New Zealand.”

David Reynolds – #20 TRADIE Energy Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

“It was a massive fizzer of a day, but I think that’s the right call. When we were out there, it started teeming down, and there was a lot of standing water in the really high speed parts, which is scary.

“I was having aquaplane moments under the safety car, so they made the right call, but unfortunately, this is a track you can’t stuff around at.

“If it were racing at Winton and that sort of situation happened, I think we could have restarted, but this track’s too high risk and too high speed.

It’s unfortunate, we had a good position starting 10th. I felt like I had a lot of grip, in that little period behind the safety car and I would have loved to have started the race.

“I’m looking forward to Taupo. I’ve had six races all year and five of them have been complete disasters with crashes, mechanical dramas and everything under the sun that’s happened. It’s the worst start of any championship I’ve been in, so Taupo can’t come quick enough to get the monkey off my back.
