Team 18 powered through a mixed day at Symmons Plains for the first two races of the 2025 Tasmania Super440, highlighted by TRADIE Energy Racing’s David Reynolds scoring his first top ten finish of the season in Race 12.
The morning began under icy conditions, which combined with traffic and low grip, made for a challenging Qualifying session. Both Anton De Pasquale and Reynolds were knocked out in Q1 for Race 11, starting 23rd and 22nd respectively.
However, Reynolds bounced back in Qualifying for Race 12 with a strong performance on soft tyres, progressing into Q2 and securing seventh on the grid. De Pasquale was eliminated in Q1 again and started Race 12 from 20th.
In Race 11, the team trialled alternate tyre strategies. Reynolds pitted early for two right-side tyres and made up ground initially before fading late to finish 20th. De Pasquale opted for four tyres and executed a clean run to gain five positions, crossing the line in 18th in the DEWALT Chevrolet.
Race 12 brought better fortunes. Starting seventh, Reynolds held firm among the lead group early and pitted on Lap 19 for right-side tyres. Despite late pressure, he held on to take ninth at the flag for his first top ten result of the year. De Pasquale continued to fight through the field, ultimately placing 17th.
Reynolds credited setup changes and improved performance on the soft compound as key factors in his strong afternoon run, while De Pasquale is focused on turning things around with a stronger qualifying effort on Sunday.
Team 18 return to the track tomorrow for a final Qualifying session at 9:35am, the Top Ten Shootout at 11:55am, and Race 13 at 2:45pm, a 78-lap finale to close out the Tasmania Super440.

“A couple races done in Tassie today. We had some issues through qualifying, which had us starting towards the back, which made for a long day.
“We’ll try and rectify all that for tomorrow. Try and qualify a bit further up and have a good race.”

“The first quali session this morning was a bit messy, but I think my car was better than what 22nd was.
“The next session was a lot better on the soft tyre. We had to change the car quite a lot and I think Krusty did pretty good with the setup and we made second part in the top ten. We went out again and just reran a set of tyres ended up seventh, which wasn’t a bad lap.
“The first race this morning, I felt like I just had not much pace and I finished 20th.
“The next race I was going okay. I’m way more competitive on the soft tyre than I was on the super soft tyre. We started seventh and finished ninth and just battled myself around and probably ran out of tyres towards the end there. The last ten laps I probably should have held onto eighth, but Jaxon Evans got me towards the end.
“It was a bit of a guess because we haven’t run that tyre before. The soft tyre is the new tyre this year, so everyone was having swings at set up and my car was pretty good. As far as races go, that’s the best one I’ve had all year where I’ve been the most competitive, so it’s looking positive.”
