Team 18’s TRADIE Energy Racing driver David Reynolds will trade the race track for the footy field tonight, Friday 15 August, taking part in the 2025 Essendon Football Club Legends Game at Marvel Stadium.

Reynolds will represent the TRADIE Dons, lining up alongside TRADIE ambassador Nick “Honey Badger” Cummins, TRADIE CEO Ben Goodfellow, and a host of former Essendon stars in a curtain-raiser to the AFL’s Round 23 clash between Essendon and St Kilda.

The TRADIE Dons will face off against the Bluestar Bombers in a fun-filled charity game raising vital funds for mental health. The match has a special connection for Team 18, with both TRADIE and Bluestar Global Logistics partners of Team 18 and backing the EFC Legends Game. TRADIE has been a long-term partner of the Essendon Football Club.

It’s Reynolds’ first foray into Australian Rules Football and the cause makes it even more worthwhile for the 2017 Bathurst 1000 winner.

Reynolds comes into the Legends Game fresh from the Ipswich Super440, where he showed strong pace despite a challenging weekend with results of 24th, ninth and 11th.

The 2025 EFC Legends Game between the Bluestar Bombers and TRADIE Dons will be held at Marvel Stadium on Friday 15 August, with Gate 2 opening at 4:30pm for all those wishing to watch the EFC Legends game, teams running out at 4:35pm, the national anthem at 4:50pm, and kick-off at 5:05pm, followed by the cup presentation at 6:00pm, ahead of Essendon’s Round 23 AFL clash with St Kilda at 7:20pm.

QUOTES

David Reynolds, driver #20 TRADIE Energy Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

“I’ve been roped into my first ever Aussie Rules game.”

“I’m pretty useless when it comes to footy, I don’t really understand much of it and before today I’d never even kicked a ball.

“I think I’ll be a bench warmer, but it should be a lot of fun. We had a massive laugh at training today with the proper football club, so I reckon it’s going to be a good laugh in the end.”

“It’s all about raising money for mental health, so it’s great to be a part of that and have TRADIE supporting it. BlueStar Global Logistics is on the other team as well, so it’s the TRADIE Dons versus the Bluestar Bombers. We’re actually sponsored by both, so I might even do a cheeky halftime defection, we’ll see what happens.”

“We had reasonable pace in Ipswich and qualified okay most days. I got shuffled back in the pits, and in the first race I was pushed off the track and went to last. I was working my way back through but made a mistake on some oil. It’s been six years since we raced at Ipswich, and it turned out to be a pretty good weekend for us.”
