DEWALT Racing’s Anton De Pasquale and Snowy River Racing’s David Reynolds were caught in on-track chaos during Race 3 of the Repco Supercars Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park, finishing 15th and 16th respectively.
De Pasquale started from third on the grid and slotted into fourth on the opening lap, remaining in the fight at the front of the field. Reynolds, meanwhile, was battling in the mid-pack from the outset before becoming entangled in an awkward clash involving Stewart and Gray at Turn 6 on the second lap.
Despite the contact, and managing a cool suit issue throughout the race, Reynolds pressed on to take the chequered flag in 16th. He was taken to the infield medical centre for precautionary checks post-race but returned to the Team 18 garage shortly after.
De Pasquale’s race remained on track for a podium result through the two compulsory pit stops, cycling back into third place before a Safety Car was deployed on Lap 29 as heavy rain swept across the circuit.
At the restart, chaos unfolded at Turn 4 when De Pasquale was caught on the outside as Brown made a move on Kostecki. The trio made contact, spinning the #18 DEWALT Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and ending his hopes of another podium finish. Brown was later handed a 15-second penalty for his role in the incident.
The Team 18 Chevrolets ultimately crossed the line in 15th and 16th, concluding a weekend that included a race victory and strong pace across all three days.
Despite the tough end to Sunday, De Pasquale leaves Sydney fourth in the Drivers’ Championship, with Reynolds eighth. Team 18 sits fourth in the Teams’ standings heading into the next round of the Repco Supercars Championship, which takes place at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix on March 5–8.
QUOTES
Anton De Pasquale, Driver #18 DEWALT Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
“It’s been a long week, we’ve been here since Tuesday and done a serious amount of laps, so it’s been pretty hectic.
“We finished P1 last night, and today we had a bit of rain halfway through which really mixed things up. Unfortunately, we got hit on the restart, which probably cost us a podium position. You never really know how it would’ve played out, but we were definitely in that fight.
“To come off a win last night and be fighting for another podium, almost on pole again, is really cool and really exciting. It’s amazing what the guys are doing.
“Overall, it’s been a really good weekend. A bit of a shame to finish on a low, but there were way more highs than lows. Keen to get to the next one.”
