Victorian Supercars Championship outfit Team 18 is pleased to announce that it has signed a new driver agreement with David Reynolds, commencing for the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season.
Reynolds, the 2017 Bathurst 1000 winner and a seven-time Supercars race winner, will partner 2013 Bathurst winner and 2015 Supercars Champion Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom at the squad headed up by Charlie Schwerkolt.
He will join the Mount Waverley team’s line-up in place of Scott Pye, who will conclude his four-year stint with the team at the end of the 2023 season.
Reynolds’ already impressive racing career includes a 2004 Formula Ford Championship and the 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship on his ascent to Supercars.
Having made his full-time Supercars debut at Walkinshaw Racing and later moving to Kelly Racing, Reynolds enjoyed a four-year stint at Tickford Racing alongside Winterbottom, where he recorded a personal best of third place in the 2015 championship.
A five-year journey at Erebus Motorsport followed, culminating in the 2017 Bathurst win and a fifth-place finish in the 2018 championship.
Reynolds’ arrival at Team 18 marks a reunion with Team Manager Bruin Beasley and Crew Chief Dennis Huijser, who worked alongside him during his successes at Erebus.
Reynolds, who remains one of the most popular drivers in the Supercars paddock will join the team after a three-year stint at Grove Racing where he scored ten podium finishes.
Reynolds brings his extensive experience and talent to Team 18, marking a new chapter in both his career and the team’s journey to be a force in the Supercars championship.
Team 18 will continue their focus on performing in the final four events of this year’s Supercars Championship, with the next event set for the Sandown 500 on 15-17 September.
QUOTES
David Reynolds, 2024 Team 18 Driver
“This is just a really exciting time for me. I’ve worked with Bruin [Beasley] and Dennis [Huijser] when we won Bathurst. We get along really well and I respect everything they do.
“On top of that I get to race alongside Frosty [Winterbottom] and people forget that the last season we raced together, Mark and I finished first and third in the Championship back in 2015.
“I can’t thank Charlie [Schwerkolt] enough. I’ve always admired Charlie and how he conducts himself and his team. Funnily enough I’ve always had this feeling that maybe one day I’d race for Charlie, I cannot wait to join him and his team.”
