Team 18 and Snowy River Caravans have celebrated their star driver David Reynolds as he gets set to make his 500th Supercars Race Start today in Race 10 of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship at the ITM Christchurch Super440.
Reynolds was destined to make his 500th start on Sunday in Taupo before the race was cancelled due to Cyclone Vaianu, with the race rescheduled for Friday in Christchurch.
To celebrate the occasion Team 18 has changed the number of the Snowy River Racing Chevrolet to #500, with the team set to wear a one-off celebratory t-shirt celebrating the milestone which can be bought trackside in Christchurch. Ironically, the shirt has got Taupo as the event for where the milestone was set to be made.
Reynolds will attend the Snowy River Caravans display in merchandise alley for a celebration at 9:40am, before doing a signing session at the Team 18 merchandise stand at 9:50am.
David Reynolds’ journey to 500 Supercars starts spans nearly two decades, beginning with challenging co-driver appearances in 2007 and 2008 before breaking through as a full-time driver in 2009.
Reynolds forged a career as a consistent front-runner across several teams with multiple race wins, highlighted by victory in the 2017 Bathurst 1000.
Reynolds has also built a reputation as one of the most popular and entertaining personalities in the Supercars paddock, becoming synonymous with some of the category’s most memorable podium celebrations. From throwing pot plants into the crowd to spraying fire extinguishers and delivering unfiltered, off-the-cuff interviews, Reynolds’ antics have made him a fan favourite and added a unique flair to his success on track.
Reynolds has brought his experience to Team 18 since 2024, contributing greatly to the growth of the team to become Chevrolet’s homologation partner, and scored the team’s first podium at the famous Bathurst 1000, narrowly placing second last year alongside Lee Holdsworth.
Friday’s action in Christchurch action features Practice 1 at 9:35am NZST, a two-part qualifying session from 2:15pm to set the grid for the first ever Supercars race at Ruapuna Raceway from 4:35pm for 37 laps.
Fans can catch all the action live on Fox Sports and Kayo. Check local guides for further details.

Charlie Schwerkolt, Owner – Team 18
“500 races is a massive achievement, and it says a lot about the kind of driver and person Dave is. To compete at this level for that long, stay competitive and still love what he does and that’s not easy.
“Since coming into Team 18, he’s brought a huge amount of experience and energy to the group. He’s played a big part in where we’re heading as a team, and that Bathurst podium last year was a great example of what he can do. But more than that, he’s just a genuine character. What you see is what you get with Dave, and that’s why fans love him. He brings personality to the sport, and you need that.
“We’re really proud to have him with us for this milestone, and hopefully we can help him celebrate it the right way out on track.”
