2024 betr Darwin Triple Crown, Event 05 of the Repco Supercars Championship, Hidden Valley, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. 15 Jun, 2024.

DEWALT Racing’s Mark Winterbottom scored his second podium of the year with a second place in Race 11 in Darwin, with TRADIE Beer Racing’s David Reynolds coming home a strong sixth.

Both drivers put in a strong lap in the Top 10 Shootout to retain their qualifying positions of third and seventh.

Winterbottom got off to a reasonable start, and slotted into third behind Golding and Feeney. Feeney went for the lead on Lap 4 at the hairpin, as Winterbottom followed through to second.

Winterbottom pitted on Lap 22 for rear tyres, with Dave following through a couple of laps later for rears.

As Feeney built a lead, Winterbottom managed the gap to Brown in second, taking the chequered flag a second ahead.

Reynolds rejoined in fifth, and defended hard against Percat, before dropping back to seventh behind Mostert and Waters. Reynolds was promoted back to sixth with a five second penalty for Waters.

Both drivers were excited by the team’s strong result and are looking forward to another race to come tomorrow.

Sunday’s action will kick off with Qualifying at 10:25am, the Top 10 Shootout at 11:35am, and Race 12 at 3:10pm local time. All the action can be viewed live on Channel 7, Fox Sports and Kayo.

Shootout: 3rd

Race 11: 2nd

“I think the weekend’s been awesome for us to be fast in Friday practice, fast in qualifying and then fast in the shootout and still up there. We’ve been up every session, so that’s probably satisfied me the most. We’re genuinely up there every session and even Dave too.

“It’s a lot better racing these guys than what it is battling at the back and winning Pizza Hut Awards week in, week out.”

David Reynolds, #20 TRADIE Beer Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Shootout: 7th

Race 11: 6th

“We qualified seventh which was pretty much where we qualified. I got a reasonable start, had a good battle with Waters and sort of was there or thereabouts in the first stint.

“I was actually reasonably comfortable with my car, then we come in for the pit stop and my car was a little bit hard to drive after that.

“All in all, we need to really look at our comparison between the cars because Mark’s car ran slightly different. We’ve got a lot of good data. As a team, we’re up the front, two cars in the top six is an extremely good effort, so bring on tomorrow.”
